Blood Bank

Yesterday was one of the best release days in a long time. I won't go through the list, nor all the stuff I did actually pick up, but this was one of them. I had a bit of a hard time dealing with the thought of 4 songs for $10. But it's Bon Iver, and the title track of this EP is well worth the price.

I listened to this EP 4 times yesterday and had it on as I went to sleep last night. But I didn't fall asleep until after it was over. So, I guess I heard it 5 times.

It gets better the more I listened to it. When I first listened to "Babys", I was turned off by the repetitive music line that is prominent through most of the song. It is reminiscent of Spoon's "Ghost of You Lingers", but as with that song, I got used to it and found it to be part of its charm.

Fans of Bon Iver will likely not be expecting what's to come on "Woods". It is an a capella track with lots of vocal manipulation. The first time through, I wasn't too keen on the song, but by the time I started the disc for it's third time....I was actually looking forward to the song. Thumbs up!
